Leisure Energy × Make It Simple · concept artefacts

A platform demonstrator for leisure-centre decarbonisation, from site survey to PSDS application.

A working set of design artefacts exploring what a Leisure Energy consultant's toolkit could look like. Built around a worked example — Grantham Meres Leisure Centre — covering site modelling, energy data ingest, scenario analysis, and grant-ready report generation. All figures are illustrative; the structure is grounded in real Salix Phase 4 PSDS guidance and a real LE customer proposal pack.

3D Building Visualisation

The original concept piece — an interactive 3D model of a leisure centre with a 24-hour time animation, zone-level energy readouts, and scenario toggles for ASHP and CHP. Built with React + react-three-fiber + Three.js. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, click a space to focus.

🟢 Live demo

Translucent 3D leisure-centre model

Pan, zoom, and focus on any room. Watch the gas demand colour-grade across zones as the time slider advances through a 24-hour cycle. Toggle scenarios to compare baseline gas vs ASHP vs CHP. Heat readouts for both room air temperature and individual water bodies (main pool · learner · spa).

Site Tool & Data Ingest Wireframes

The foundation. Stage 1 captures the site model (zones, plant, meters, planning refs, observations). Stage 2 brings in the consumption data — annual baselines, half-hourly CSV ingest with unit conversion, sub-meter binding, and a raw-data viewer. Designed as the consultant's working surface, not a final user product.

Stage 3 · polished UI

Analytics Dashboards & Scenario Modelling

Three sister files showing what the platform looks like once it's working. Dashboards present today's consumption, heat-density (kWh/m²), and peak load. Scenarios make proposed changes computational — every metric re-projects as scenarios are layered. The Net Zero Pod® is modelled as the headline Grantham Meres recommendation.

Three Ways to Present the Same Analysis

The same Grantham Meres conclusions — Phase 4 eligible · grant carbon cost £323 · council match £282k · 4.6-year payback — written for three different audiences. Helpful for LE to decide what voice fits their actual delivery model.

Sample Reports — Grant-Ready PDFs

Three sample reports as the platform would produce them. Each one is grounded in real schema: PSDS Phase 4 Guidance (Salix, Jul 2024); Phase 4 LCSF HDP Guidance (Salix, Mar 2023); West Dunbartonshire Council Capital Plan format for the variance report.

PSDS Application Pack · Heat Decarbonisation Plan · Council Capital-Programme Variance Report

PSDS Phase 4 Application — 6-page pack with cover, contents, executive summary, eligibility evidence, end-of-life plant evidence, grant-carbon-cost calculation, and risk register. Heat Decarbonisation Plan — 6-page LCSF-compliant HDP with executive summary, buildings inventory, energy & carbon analysis, delivery plan, resources, options-appraisal, and key challenges. Council Capital-Programme Variance Report — 4-page Cabinet briefing format with IRED summary, variance analysis > £50k, and red-alert project deep-dive.
